Position Summary
The IT Technician will be responsible for supporting users across multiple locations, maintaining computer systems and network infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing IT equipment.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach to delivering effective IT support services.
Key Responsibilities
IT Support and Helpdesk Services
Provide remote and telephonic IT support to users across branches and service centres.
Respond to and resolve technical support requests efficiently.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, email, and system-related issues.
Escalate complex technical issues when necessary.
Ensure a high level of customer service and user satisfaction.
Hardware and Software Support
Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and related equipment.
Support operating systems and business applications.
Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on IT equipment.
Troubleshoot hardware failures and software performance issues.
Coordinate repairs and replacements when required.
User Account Administration
Create and manage user accounts and access permissions.
Perform password resets and profile management tasks.
Support onboarding and setup of new employees.
Ensure users have appropriate access to systems and resources.
Systems and Infrastructure Management
Maintain and support Windows and Linux/Ubuntu operating systems.
Monitor system performance and availability.
Assist with infrastructure maintenance and upgrades.
Support business continuity and operational reliability initiatives.
Network and Communications Support
Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
Support branch communications and connectivity solutions.
Assist with VoIP system administration and troubleshooting.
Help maintain stable and secure network operations across locations.
Helpdesk and Ticket Management
Manage and prioritize helpdesk tickets.
Track incidents and service requests through to resolution.
Maintain accurate records of support activities.
Ensure timely response and resolution according to service expectations.
ERP and Third-Party Application Support
Provide support for ERP-related applications.
Liaise with software vendors and third-party service providers.
Assist users with application troubleshooting and operational issues.
Support software updates and system enhancements.
Equipment Management and Branch Support
Maintain inventory records for IT assets and equipment.
Coordinate the distribution of IT hardware to branches.
Support branch technology requirements and upgrades.
Travel to branch locations when onsite support is required.
Provide after-hours technical support when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
Experience
Minimum of 3 years' experience in IT hardware support and troubleshooting.
At least 2 years' experience providing helpdesk or telephonic IT support.
Experience supporting users in a multi-site business environment is advantageous.
Additional Requirements
Valid Code 08 Driver’s Licence.
Willingness to travel to branch locations when required.
Ability to provide occasional after-hours support.
