About the Role

The Senior Finance Coordinator will provide specialist financial and operational support to BBC News activities across East Africa. The successful candidate will ensure effective financial management, maintain strong internal controls, support regulatory compliance, and provide high-quality financial information to guide business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations Management

The Senior Finance Coordinator will oversee day-to-day financial activities to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating supplier payments and invoicing processes.

  • Managing employee expense claims and reimbursements.

  • Overseeing banking transactions and cash management activities.

Finance Systems and Compliance

The successful candidate will ensure finance systems remain secure and compliant.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing user access and permissions within finance systems.

  • Supporting compliance with BBC policies and data protection standards.

  • Utilizing SAP and other financial management systems effectively.

  • Ensuring compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Audit and Stakeholder Support

The Senior Finance Coordinator will support both internal and external audit activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing documentation required for audits.

  • Coordinating with auditors, service providers, and banking partners.

  • Assisting with the implementation of audit recommendations.

  • Monitoring outsourced finance service providers to ensure service quality and operational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • A recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent certification.

  • Relevant professional experience in finance, accounting, or financial management roles.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and month-end processes.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.

  • Hands-on experience using SAP and other financial management systems.
