Position Summary

The Patient Transport Driver will be responsible for transporting patients safely and efficiently, conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining service standards, and supporting operational requirements within a healthcare environment.

This role requires excellent driving skills, strong interpersonal abilities, attention to safety, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Transportation Services

  • Provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation for patients.

  • Ensure patients are transported comfortably and professionally.

  • Follow designated schedules and transport routes.

  • Assist in delivering a positive and supportive patient experience.

  • Maintain professional interactions with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Vehicle Operations and Safety

  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections before operating the vehicle.

  • Ensure the vehicle remains roadworthy and clean at all times.

  • Report any maintenance issues, defects, or safety concerns promptly.

  • Follow all traffic laws and company driving procedures.

  • Maintain a strong focus on road safety and accident prevention.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Deliver high-quality service to patients and healthcare stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions.

  • Build positive relationships with patients and colleagues.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.

  • Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar driving or transport-related role.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or patient transportation environment will be advantageous.

  • Experience within renal care or medical services is beneficial but not mandatory.

Licensing Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • Valid Code 8 or Code 10 Driver’s Licence

  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
