About the Role

The Pharmacy Technologist will be responsible for dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions, managing pharmaceutical inventory, and supporting patient treatment plans.

This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining high standards of patient safety and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Medication Dispensing and Patient Support

  • Dispense prescribed medications accurately and safely.

  • Ensure patients receive the correct dosage and administration instructions.

  • Provide guidance on medication usage and adherence.

  • Support patients with information regarding prescribed treatments.

Prescription Review and Verification

  • Review and interpret prescription orders from healthcare providers.

  • Verify medication accuracy and appropriateness before dispensing.

Patient Care and Medication Monitoring

  • Monitor patient responses to prescribed medications.

  • Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, professional standards, and internal policies.

Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Maintain complete and accurate patient medication records.

  • Document pharmaceutical interventions and treatment outcomes.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Candidates must possess:

  • A Diploma in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.

Professional Registration

Applicants should be:

  • Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.

  • Eligible to practice as a Pharmacy Technologist in Kenya.

Experience Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • Between 5 and 8 years of relevant pharmacy experience.

  • Experience working in a busy pharmacy, hospital, clinic, or healthcare environment.

  • Practical knowledge of pharmaceutical dispensing procedures and inventory management.
