Key Responsibilities

Student Transportation and Safety

The successful candidate will:

• Operate school vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with traffic laws and organizational policies.

• Ensure students are picked up and dropped off according to approved transport schedules and routes.

• Follow the designated door-to-door student transport policy.

• Ensure all students are safely onboard before commencing any journey.

• Work closely with bus assistants to maintain order and discipline during transportation.

• Transport students to educational trips, sports events, medical facilities, and other school-related activities.

Vehicle Operations and Maintenance

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting daily vehicle inspections, including checks on:

  • Tyres

  • Engine oil

  • Coolant levels

  • Vehicle lights

  • General vehicle condition

• Reporting mechanical defects and maintenance issues promptly.

• Maintaining accurate vehicle movement records, including mileage, destinations, and travel times.

• Ensuring assigned vehicles remain clean and well-maintained.

• Refueling vehicles according to approved schedules.

• Ensuring vehicles are securely parked when not in use.

Compliance and Safety Management

The School Bus Driver will:

• Observe all traffic regulations, speed limits, and road safety requirements.

• Comply with organizational transport policies and procedures.

• Ensure all required driving licenses, permits, and certifications remain valid and up to date.

• Follow emergency procedures in the event of accidents or incidents.

• Immediately report accidents, delays, route diversions, or safety concerns to the Transport Manager.

Workplace Health and Safety

Key responsibilities include:

• Participating in workplace health and safety initiatives.

• Conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.

• Reporting unsafe conditions and recommending corrective measures.

• Handling tools, equipment, and vehicles in accordance with safety guidelines.

• Maintaining a safe working environment within transport facilities and workshops.

Customer Service and Team Collaboration

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver professional and courteous service to students, parents, and staff.

• Promote positive relationships within the school community.

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and transport staff.

• Participate in team meetings and operational planning sessions.

• Respond appropriately to customer feedback and service concerns.

Operational Excellence

The role also requires:

• Maintaining accurate and timely transport records.

• Following standard operating procedures for transport services.

• Performing additional duties assigned by management when required.

Educational Requirements

Applicants should possess:

• A Diploma in Auto Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field from a recognized institution.

Experience Requirements

Candidates should have:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in school bus transportation or a related driving role.

• Proven experience operating passenger service vehicles safely and responsibly.

Required Licenses and Certifications

Applicants must possess:

• A valid PSV License.

• A valid BCE Class Driving License held for at least 8 years.

• A recent Certificate of Good Conduct issued within the last six months.

• Recommendations or references from at least three previous employers.
