Position Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for managing accounting functions, preparing financial statements, handling tax compliance, and providing professional financial support to a portfolio of clients.

This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities for assigned clients.

  • Process accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.

  • Prepare annual financial statements and management reports.

  • Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements.

Tax Compliance and Administration

  • Prepare and submit various tax returns accurately and on time.

  • Calculate and manage:

    • Income Tax

    • Provisional Tax

    • Value Added Tax (VAT)

  • Monitor compliance with tax regulations and legislative requirements.

  • Assist clients with tax-related queries and reporting obligations.

  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and financial regulations.

Reconciliations and Financial Control

  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.

  • Review balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.

  • Prepare and review journal entries.

  • Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and up to date.

  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company and client assets.

Budgeting and Financial Analysis

  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and targets.

  • Analyze financial results and identify trends.

  • Provide recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

  • Assist management and clients with strategic financial planning.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.

  • Provide professional accounting and financial support.

  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery.

  • Support clients in achieving their financial and compliance objectives.

Compliance and Best Practices

  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles and professional standards.

  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

  • Implement and improve financial processes where necessary.

  • Support audit preparation and compliance reviews.

  • Promote best practices in financial management and reporting.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Degree in:

    • Accounting

    • Finance

    • Commerce

    • Related Financial Discipline

Experience

  • Proven experience as an Accountant

  • Previous experience within an accounting firm, financial services company, or professional services environment is highly desirable

  • Experience managing multiple client accounts is advantageous
