Key Responsibilities

Credit Fraud Monitoring and Investigation

The role involves overseeing daily fraud monitoring activities across lending products to identify unusual or suspicious transactions.

Primary duties include:

  • Conducting real-time and post-transaction monitoring of credit and lending products.

  • Identifying emerging fraud trends, suspicious activities, and potential fraud risks.

  • Reviewing, prioritizing, and managing fraud alerts while ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.

  • Leading investigations involving medium to high-risk fraud cases.

  • Escalating complex fraud incidents promptly for further action.

  • Recommending account restrictions, customer remediation actions, and recovery strategies in line with internal policies.

  • Performing root cause analysis and maintaining detailed investigation records.

Fraud Detection Controls and Risk Framework Support

The Fraud Detection and Monitoring Analyst will contribute to strengthening fraud prevention systems and internal controls.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and reviewing fraud detection rules, thresholds, and monitoring processes.

  • Optimizing fraud monitoring workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Coordinating testing and deployment of new fraud prevention tools and technologies.

  • Supporting fraud risk assessments and scenario analysis exercises.

  • Enhancing preventive and detective controls in line with the organization's risk appetite.

Data Analysis and Fraud Reporting

Data-driven insights play a critical role in fraud prevention and risk management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing transaction data to identify fraud patterns, trends, and emerging threats.

  • Preparing and validating management reports, dashboards, and fraud loss reports.

  • Monitoring fraud-related key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Recommending initiatives to improve fraud detection rates, reduce losses, and minimize false positives.

Systems and Technology Support

The successful candidate will provide operational oversight of fraud management technologies.

Duties include:

  • Supporting fraud monitoring platforms, rule engines, and alert management systems.

  • Participating in system upgrades, enhancements, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Acting as a key business representative during technology improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Team Leadership

Strong collaboration and leadership skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with teams across fraud investigations, information technology, credit, compliance, risk management, cybersecurity, and product development.

  • Supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and requests related to lending fraud activities.

  • Providing coaching, guidance, and quality assurance to fraud monitoring officers.

  • Promoting best practices in fraud detection and financial crime prevention.

Qualifications and Requirements

Educational Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

Professional Certifications

The following certifications will be considered an added advantage:

  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

  • Auditing certifications

  • Accounting certifications

  • Risk Management certifications

  • Information Systems Audit certifications

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in banking, financial crime, fraud monitoring, or risk management roles.

  • Hands-on experience in credit fraud detection and investigations is essential.
