About the Role

The Packing Plant Operator plays a critical role in ensuring cement products are accurately packed, weighed, and prepared for dispatch. The position requires close attention to operational efficiency, quality control, equipment monitoring, and workplace safety.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a production environment and committed to meeting operational targets while following established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Packing Plant Operations

  • Operate packing plant machinery efficiently and safely.

  • Manage packers, autoloaders, and related production equipment.

  • Ensure equipment operates effectively, preferably in automatic mode where applicable.

  • Support uninterrupted packing and dispatch activities.

Production Target Achievement

  • Contribute to achieving established production goals.

  • Monitor operational performance throughout assigned shifts.

  • Support efficient workflow to meet daily and shift-based output targets.

  • Work closely with supervisors to address production challenges.

Quality Control

  • Regularly verify cement bag weights to ensure compliance with the required 50kg standard.

  • Immediately report weight inconsistencies or quality concerns.

  • Ensure products meet established quality specifications before dispatch.

Shift Management

  • Report to the Shift Manager at the start of each shift.

  • Receive work instructions and operational updates.

  • Conduct effective shift handovers and takeovers to maintain operational continuity.

  • Communicate relevant production information to incoming operators.

Handling Rejected Products

  • Properly separate, stack, and label damaged or rejected bags.

  • Prevent contamination and product loss through correct handling procedures.

  • Follow company guidelines for managing non-conforming products.

Equipment Monitoring and Maintenance Support

  • Perform routine equipment inspections.

  • Identify mechanical issues or operational abnormalities.

  • Report faults promptly to maintenance personnel or supervisors.

  • Support preventive maintenance efforts when required.

Workplace Safety and Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

  • Remove rejected materials and production waste appropriately.

  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and operational guidelines.

  • Ensure workstations remain properly managed throughout operations.

Compliance and Operational Standards

  • Adhere to company policies and operational procedures.

  • Follow quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems.

  • Support compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Educational Requirements

Candidates should possess one of the following qualifications:

  • WASC (West African Senior School Certificate)

  • GCE (General Certificate of Education)

  • SSCE (Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination)

  • Trade Test Grade I, II, or III

Preferred Technical Fields

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Industrial Maintenance

  • Related Technical Disciplines

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Between 2 and 9 years of experience in:

    • Cement manufacturing

    • Industrial production

    • Packing plant operations

    • Manufacturing environments

  • Experience operating industrial machinery and production equipment.
