About the Role

The Accounts Clerk will support daily accounting operations by processing invoices, managing payments, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with financial reporting activities.

This position plays an important role in ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and maintained in accordance with company procedures and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Management

  • Receive, verify, and process supplier invoices.

  • Prepare payment vouchers and support payment processing.

  • Record supplier invoices and receipts in accounting systems.

  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.

  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records.

Accounts Receivable Management

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices.

  • Record customer payments accurately.

  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts.

  • Maintain up-to-date accounts receivable records.

Financial Transaction Processing

  • Record cash receipts and payments.

  • Ensure all transactions are captured accurately in accounting systems.

  • Support daily financial operations and cash management activities.

Bank Reconciliation

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations.

  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences.

  • Ensure financial records accurately reflect bank balances.

Record Keeping and Documentation

  • Maintain accounting ledgers and financial records.

  • Organize and file financial documents systematically.

  • Ensure documentation is accessible and audit-ready.

Payroll Support

  • Assist with payroll preparation and processing activities.

  • Maintain employee payroll records.

  • Record statutory deductions accurately and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly schedules and supporting reports.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements.

  • Support management with financial information and reporting needs.

Audit Support

  • Maintain complete and accurate records for audit purposes.

  • Provide required documentation during internal and external audits.

  • Support compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.

Administrative and System Support

  • Maintain accounting databases and spreadsheets.

  • Update financial records and system information as required.

  • Handle finance-related correspondence and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Candidates should possess:

  • A Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in:

    • Accounting

    • Finance

    • Business Administration

    • Commerce

    • Or a related field

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Between 1 and 3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or related roles.

  • Experience handling accounts payable and receivable processes.

  • Familiarity with accounting systems and financial reporting procedures.

Technical Skills

Experience with:

  • SAP or similar accounting software.

  • Accounting databases and spreadsheets.

  • Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
