What You'll Do

In this capacity you will be the backbone of the county’s health information workflow, handling a range of administrative and data‑management tasks.

  • Greet patients at the hospital reception, record their arrival, and verify identification details.
  • Schedule appointments for patients with clinics and specialist consultants, ensuring accurate booking records.
  • Prepare consultation rooms, update the bed‑allocation system, and maintain up‑to‑date patient case files.
  • Enter, store, retrieve, and archive medical records while preserving confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Collect and consolidate health data from multiple service points to support reporting and analysis.
  • Assign International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes to diagnoses and surgical procedures, and generate routine health‑records reports.
  • Maintain the master patient index and oversee daily reconciliation of bed returns.
  • Guide patients to appropriate service areas and coordinate their movement through specialty clinics.
  • Perform any additional duties required by the County Health Department to enhance service delivery.

What We're Looking For

Ideal candidates will combine formal training with a meticulous approach to health information management.

  • A Diploma in Health Records, Health Information Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration and practicing licence issued by the Health Records Information and Management Board.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications and familiarity with electronic health‑record systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication abilities for interacting with patients, clinicians, and administrative staff.
