The County Public Service Board is seeking qualified Nursing Officers I to join its Health Services department on a permanent, pensionable basis. This full‑time role is based in Kwale, Kenya, and is open for four separate appointments. What You'll Do
In this position you will be responsible for a broad range of nursing activities that promote patient safety, clinical excellence, and community health.
- Identify and assess health risks for individuals of all ages, ensuring early detection and timely intervention.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations in hospitals, clinics, and community settings, documenting findings accurately.
- Develop, plan, and deliver evidence‑based nursing care plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients by adhering to infection‑control protocols and safety standards.
- Perform patient audits and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to continuously improve the quality of care.
- Engage in therapeutic communication, providing emotional support and clear information to patients and their families.
- Lead community health risk assessments and implement targeted interventions based on the results.
- Record all nursing interventions and outcomes in the health information system, contributing to quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Recognise common health conditions, make preliminary diagnoses, and recommend appropriate referrals or treatments.
- Undertake any additional duties assigned by the County Health Department that support its mission.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will combine formal nursing education with a strong commitment to public‑health service.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery obtained from a recognized university or college.
- A current, valid practicing licence issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- An official registration certificate from the Nursing Council of Kenya confirming professional standing.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, demonstrated by a certificate or equivalent training.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and compassionate interaction with patients.
