What You'll Do

In this capacity, you will be responsible for a range of clinical and administrative tasks that ensure safe and effective orthopedic trauma care.

  • Assess and realign broken bones or dislocated joints, employing appropriate reduction techniques to restore proper anatomy.
  • Apply, adjust, and remove casts, bandages, and traction devices, guaranteeing patient comfort and optimal healing conditions.
  • Provide corrective treatment for congenital talipes equino‑varus (clubfoot), following established protocols and offering guidance to patients and families.
  • Clean, dress, and monitor simple wounds that arise from orthopedic injuries, documenting progress and outcomes in patient records.
  • Maintain accurate case notes for each trauma encounter, capturing details of diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up recommendations.
  • Identify musculoskeletal conditions that require specialist referral and coordinate those referrals within the county health system.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous‑quality improvement initiatives related to orthopedic services.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by senior medical staff that support the overall mission of the County Health Department.

What We're Looking For

  • A recognized diploma in Orthopedic Plaster Technology or an equivalent qualification.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, demonstrated by a certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to follow clinical guidelines for fracture reduction, casting, and wound management with precision.
  • Excellent communication skills for counseling patients on injury prevention, post‑treatment care, and rehabilitation.
  • Attention to detail when documenting clinical information and updating patient files.
  • Valid practicing license and registration with a relevant professional body, as required by Kenyan health regulations.
