What You'll Do
As a Registered Clinical Officer III you will be responsible for a broad range of clinical duties within the county health facilities.
- Gather comprehensive patient histories, perform physical examinations, and formulate diagnoses based on clinical judgment.
- Order appropriate laboratory tests and imaging studies, then analyse the results to guide treatment plans.
- Manage common illnesses and injuries for patients receiving care in outpatient clinics or admitted to hospital wards.
- Collaborate with nurses, community health workers and other professionals to deliver integrated community health services.
- Provide health education, counseling and preventive advice to patients, families and staff members.
- Conduct minor surgical procedures that fall within your training and competency level.
- Collect, record and organise clinical data for reporting and quality‑improvement purposes.
- Prepare medico‑legal documentation summarising clinical interventions when required.
- Refer patients to specialised services or higher‑level facilities whenever their condition exceeds the scope of the county health centre.
- Participate in on‑call rotations, respond swiftly to emergencies, and adapt to flexible shift patterns as needed.
- Undertake any additional duties assigned by the County Health Department that support the delivery of health services.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess the academic credentials and professional registration required to practice independently in Kenya.
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Clinical Medicine and Community Health, or an equivalent qualification awarded by a recognised institution.
- Current, valid registration with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
- Active practising licence issued by the Clinical Officers Council.
- Strong commitment to delivering both curative and preventive care in a public‑sector setting.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, especially during emergency situations and shift work.
- Excellent communication skills for counselling patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel within Kwale County and serve diverse patient populations.
