What You'll Do

As a Registered Nursing Officer you will be responsible for a broad range of clinical and administrative duties that support safe, effective maternal‑neonatal care.

  • Deliver direct nursing care to newborns aged 1‑2 days and their mothers, following evidence‑based protocols for neonatal resuscitation, feeding, and infection control.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and document patient progress accurately in electronic health records.
  • Coordinate referrals and liaise with physicians, paediatric specialists, and community health workers to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and nursing assistants, providing on‑the‑job training and performance feedback.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of maternal‑health policies, standard operating procedures, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
  • Educate families on newborn care practices, breastfeeding techniques, and post‑discharge follow‑up plans.
  • Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment by overseeing infection‑prevention measures and equipment sterilisation.
  • Contribute to weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, presenting case updates and collaborating on treatment plans.

What We're Looking For

Ideal candidates will possess the formal education and professional credentials required to practice nursing in Kenya, along with a genuine passion for paediatric and maternal health.

  • A recognised Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid practising licence issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Demonstrated ability to care for neonates and postpartum mothers, preferably within a hospital or specialised paediatric setting.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with families, multidisciplinary teams, and community health partners.
  • Excellent organisational abilities to manage patient records, shift schedules, and clinical documentation.
  • Commitment to adhering to clinical guidelines, infection‑control standards, and ethical nursing practice.
