Key Responsibilities

Receiving and Inspecting Materials

The Storekeeper will be responsible for receiving all materials delivered to the project site and ensuring that deliveries meet company standards.

Key duties include:

  • Receiving and verifying incoming materials.

  • Checking supporting documents such as Purchase Orders (POs) and Delivery Notes.

  • Confirming quantities and conducting basic quality inspections.

  • Reporting shortages, damages, or discrepancies immediately.

  • Recording all received items accurately using Excel, ERP systems, or logbooks.

  • Storing materials in designated warehouse locations.

Issuing Construction Materials

To maintain accountability and inventory accuracy, materials should only be issued following approved procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Issuing stock only against approved Material Requisition (MR) forms.

  • Picking and preparing requested materials.

  • Verifying quantities before release.

  • Updating inventory records after each transaction.

  • Obtaining signatures from authorized personnel receiving materials.

Stock Control and Inventory Management

Maintaining accurate inventory records is essential to ensure smooth site operations.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Keeping stock records accurate and up to date.

  • Updating inventory transactions daily.

  • Monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages.

  • Conducting routine stock checks and reconciliations.

  • Maintaining clean, organized, and accessible storage areas.

Reordering and Procurement Support

The Storekeeper will support procurement activities by monitoring inventory trends and identifying replenishment needs.

Duties include:

  • Tracking fast-moving and critical inventory items.

  • Notifying supervisors when stock levels fall below minimum thresholds.

  • Assisting in preparing purchase requisitions and restocking requests.

Safety, Security, and Loss Prevention

Ensuring the safety and security of stored materials is a critical part of this role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Storing materials safely to prevent damage.

  • Implementing measures to reduce loss, theft, or wastage.

  • Controlling access to warehouse and storage areas.

  • Adhering to workplace health and safety regulations.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Certificate in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in storekeeping, warehouse operations, or inventory management.
